If you read my reviews, you know my feelings about Dimension Extreme, and if you don’t read them, then you’re missing out. :)

In Storm Warning, a couple take a fishing boat out, but after a short time on the water, they notice a storm rolling in and get lost trying to make it back. They dock the boat in a drainage area and go ashore to find help. The first house they come to belongs to a father and his two sons, a backwoods family who are growing massive amount of marijuana.

The family comes home, questions the couple, and starts terrorizing them. They are then put in the shed, and seeing an opportunity to make a break for it, they do, but are caught and brought back. The guy gets banged up pretty good, and while the brothers attempt to have their way with his lady, the abusive father is woken up and joins the festivities. He smacks his sons around, and they go back in the house to drink and watch TV. While waiting for them to return, the chick turns into MacGyver and makes a booby trap out of fishing gear. Hearing a commotion, the younger brother investigates, and gets strung up and killed. A far-fetched scene, but you gotta love the head-bashing.

Brother #1 comes out and takes the lady into the house to spend some quality time with Poppy, but the experience is less than pleasurable as he gets his member torn up by a contraption she inserted into herself. A second break for it is made, and is successful, as Poppy gets mangled by his own dog, and the son’s hovercraft idea goes bad.

Like the Wrong Turns, Hills Have Eyes, and Wolfcreek, this feature follows a similar formula about life in the bush, but does bring it’s own twist. There are several scenes where I knew what would follow, but the effects were good and fairly pleasing to watch. For good measure, the director throws in a scene where the family watches barnyard porn, just to clarify how “out there” they are. I liked this movie, and any fan of backwoods horror should be pleased after watching. Sure, there are those “no friggin way scenes,” but overall, it’s a good movie and definitely worth a second watch, unlike Wrong Turn 2, which deserves all the bashing I gave it plus more. Storm Warning hails from Australia, which is where my twin brother lives, so go A-U!

Good job, Dimension, I hope this momentum carries through Nightmare Detective out Feb. 19th.
