Shanghai Kiss

Humor: 3
Blood: not in this one, it’s a romantic comedy
Nudity: 1, one scene with boobs
Minutes FF’ed thru: Zero
Overall rating: damn near a 4, but the slowed ending dropped it to a 3

A down-on-his-luck Chinese-American actor (Ken Leung-X-Men 3, Inside Man) meets a girl (Hayden Panettiere-Heroes, Bring It On: All or Nothing) on a city bus. Over the next few months, they establish a close friendship, and she falls in love with him. Problem is, she’s only 16 and he’s 28.

His grandmother passes away and leaves him her house in Shanghai. He goes over to sell it for what he believes will bring $500K, but due to miscommunication, it’s really only 500K yen (a little over 60K), so he decides to keep it. He falls in love with a Chinese girl while there, and decides to leave the states and move into the house. Things don’t quite work out, so he moves back to California and confesses his feelings to his friend.

This story concludes as most romantic comedies, a happy and lovey-dovey. There’s comedy sprinkled throughout, and a few scenes are absolutely hilarious. It’s seldom I laugh out loud while watching a movie, but I couldn’t help it on a scene where he’s fighting with a Chinese cab driver. Rent it for a good laugh and Hayden’s pretty face.
