In the Sight-another Asian Horror flop

These days, everyone’s jumping on the Asian Horror bandwagon, and so many seem to be shot with digital camcorders and go direct to DVD. In the Sight is another loser to add to the pile. The dialog is crap, the dubbed voices stink, and the acting is horrible. And hey, is that the little boy that screams like a cat from The Grudge 1&2? (See him on the cover). The only thing it has going for it is the Asian chicks, which still doesn’t save it.

There’s one scene that’s like the Asian Lara Croft vs. the Swordswoman aka “The Scary Ghost Woman.” But, I really think this is a bondage film in disguise with the dude in a rubber (pleather?) bodysuit, chains, and Freddy-like hand-blades. Just ridiculous. And, what is the annoying screeching that continues to block out all the other audio? It did nothing but piss me the f-ck off!!

So, why do I continue to gamble with these titles? It’s because I’ve seen some really good ones, Ju-on, A Tale of Two Sisters, Dark Water, and The Isle, and I keep thinking there’s another gem just waiting to be found. Chances are, I should just stick to Tartan Asian Extreme, but then again, that’s no guarantee. Thanks to Netflix, there’s a plethora to weed through, and no money lost.
I hope America’s take on “The Eye” may finally do the J-remakes some justice, but won't be surprised if it gets a PG-13 rating merely to cash in on our gullible youth. I just wonder why we can’t get our own ideas, and why Americans are too stupid or uptight to read subtitles and watch the originals. (That was addressed on an earlier blog.) Since time and money are always a concern, stick with Tartan and Tokyo Shock, rather than venturing out into the Netherworld of A-Horror.
